Tea Party Challenger!!!

The 2012 Senate campaign in Virginia has its first Tea Party candidate. Jamie Radtke, head of the Virginia Tea Party Patriots, filed federal papers to run for the Republican nomination for Virginia's Senate seat. Radtke said the recent tax deal passed by Congress and increased national spending contributed to her decision to run.

Jamie Radtke feels as if:

- The career politicians can't save them from the national crisis.
- The career politicians have made the national crisis worse.
- Washington needs to be changed.
- Elect a new generation of leaders to the Senate and House.
- New leaders need to fight to restore the virtue and accountability in the government.

Radtke considers herself a Tea Party and Republican candidate, the Tea Party has grown in popularity because voters support candidates who favor  cutting deficit spending and less government.

*Jamie said "We can build on what we have learned and on the foundation we have laid in 2010 for the upcoming elections."

* Jamie is helping make a stand towards the governments crisis.
* She's speaking out to what she believes in and is running for Virginia's senate seat to help make a change.
* Taxes are slowly ruining our governments.

Newark, New Jersey & Twitter!!!

Throughout December, Newark, New Jersey has been receiving tons of snow. It has become a problem to the point where cars are being buried and people have been getting stuck. The mayor of Newark, New Jersey decided to use twitter to help him directly reach out to the residents. This process is helping to get the roads cleared faster and people that are stuck some assistance. The residents are letting the mayor know whenever they need help. For example, a lady that thought she was going into labor was helped before the ambulance got there, the residents actually helped get the ambulance unstuck from the snow. The mayor soon started letting the resident directly message him their numbers for assistance.

Cory Booker, The mayor.

Thanks to the mayor using twitter:

- Diapers have been delivered
- Food has been delivered
- People have been assisted if stuck
- Ambulances were helped
- Hospital areas were cleared of snow
- Elderly walk ways were shoveled

The mayor was accomplishing a lot for his residents, he worked everyday, morning to night to make sure people were safe and taking care of and streets were plowed.

*One of the mayors tweets was, "Maybe there's a lesson in snowflakes, individually were a little weak, but when we stick together there's a lot of strength there."*

Allergies vs. Love, Cell Phones, & Bed Bugs

Have you ever been allergic to unexplainable substances or things around you but did not know what was causing an allergic reaction?, well the American College of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology have discovered new sources of allergies. People can have allergic reactions from kissing, using a cell phone, and getting bitten by bed bugs.
    kissing-lips.gif image by SprayOnPants
  • Some one can easily have an allergic reaction from their partner eating something their allergic to then kissing them. Even if your partner brushes their teeth or waits several hours an allergic reaction can still occur due to the food still being in their saliva. The best solution is just to avoid the problem food for 16 to 24 hours to help your partner avoid this situation
  • About 17% of women and 3% of men have allergies to nickel. Nickel is found in everything from phones to paper clips. If your an everyday cell phone user but have very high allergies towards nickel, then you may be harming yourself. Nickel allergies are becoming more and more common. The best solution is to avoid nickel phones, get a case for your phone, or a wireless headset.

  • It has also been found that people are having allergic reactions from bed bugs. Bed bugs can create asthmatic symptoms for certain people. Some allergic people may experience a life-threatening reaction called anaphylaxis from bed bug bites. There is no easy way of getting rid of the bed bugs but their are creams to help the bites.
You would be surprised that just the simplest things could cause allergic reactions.
  1. People don't really think about kissing as a problem that could lead to an allergic reaction. Its hard to know what your partner is allergic to a less you ask and if your allergic to something you wouldn't really think to ask your partner have they ate anything with that product in it. So what do you do ask your partner for a list of their allergies and make sure they don't eat anything that your allergic to?
  2. A cell phone is by far the most common and most used technology. Almost everyone uses a cell phone at this point, no matter if its to listen to music, chat with your friends, or business related. Most people wouldn't think that they would be allergic to a cell phone but most people also don't think about it as a product containing nickel. If you were using a cell phone on a daily basis but still doing everything that you normally do in your day and started to realize that you were having an allergic reaction would you really think it was because of your cell phone?
  3. Bed bugs are more reasonable then kissing and cell phone usage. Bed bugs are already bad to have around but if you knew you had them, then why not take care of them in the first place. These shouldn't lead to allergic reactions, instead people should just take better care of their environment at home. Would you rather be a really clean person or have an allergic reaction due to you having bed bugs in your home?

**Teenage Abduction**

Elizabeth:Age 14 & Age 23

Brian David Mitchell & Wanda Eileen Barzee

In Salt Lake City, Utah, Elizabeth Smart was kidnapped by Brian David Mitchell. Brian had Elizabeth with a knife at her throat when he came into her room at night. Brian told Elizabeth that if she didn't want her and her family killed she would obey his orders. He took Elizabeth into the foothills behind her home, she had one request, she said to Brian, "If your gonna rape and kill me, do it near the trail so my remainings can be found."  Smart had to justify her case to a jury, which had to be difficult for her to explain the terrifying memories of that night where she was abducted. Brian told Elizabeth that he wanted her the first moment he saw her. He had BIG plans for Elizabeth, himself, and......his wife! Brian planned on having Elizabeth be involved with him and his wife in a celestial plural marriage. Brian was hired by Elizabeth's mother to fix a skylight and rake leaves. Elizabeth seen him around the house often but never spoke to him. On June 5, 2002 Elizabeth woke up to the sound of a mans voice and a cold blade against her throat. When they left her house he had her waking on a trail which took 3-5 hours. When they got to their destination, she realized it was some campsite. At the campsite he announced Elizabeth as his wife, and raped her. She begged him to stop but he would not listen and she could not fight him off. She was just a helpless little girl. When she woke up the next day Brian told her that she was lucky and that  God had chosen her to be by his side as he prepared for the second coming of Jesus Christ. Elizabeth was now 23 and living in Paris, France. She spent Monday on the witness stand describing her nine months of captivity by Brian and his wife, Wanda Barzee. They raped Elizabeth daily and forced her to smoke, and drink hard liquor and wine. Mitchell was now 57, if convicted he will be facing charges of kidnapping and taking a minor across state lines for sex. He will face life in prison. Mitchell's attorney tried to say that he was insane at the time and not in control of his actions. Smart was found 9 months later walking down the street with Wanda and Mitchell in Sandy, Utah. Wanda Barzee, now 64 pleaded guilty in November 2009. She was sentenced 15 years in federal prison for kidnapping and unlawful transportation of a minor. As part of a plea agreement she cooperated in the State and Federal cases against her husband.

Nidal Hasan: "Muslims in the Military"

The Fort Hood shooting was a mass shooting that took place on November 5, 2009. Fort Hood is the populous U.S. Military Installation in the world, its located jut outside of Killeen, Texas. A gunman killed 13 people and wounded 30 others. All fingers are being pointed at Nidal Hasan. Nidal was a U.S. Army Major serving as a psychiatrist. He was shot at and is now paralyzed from the chest down.
Hasan has been charged with 13 counts of premeditated murder and 32 counts of attempted murder under the Uniform Code of Military Justice, he may face additional charges at court-martial. He was an American-born Muslim of Palestinian descent. Investigations before and after the shootings showed e-mails where Hasan was communicating with Anwar al-Awlaki, and he told Hasan that "he was a hero because fighting against the U.S. Army is an" Islamic duty". Government agencies began doing research on Hasan, but they found that he had no known links to terrorist groups. Hasan showed up to work one day, went and sat down at his desk, and bowed his head for several minutes. Next thing you know, he stood up.........and opened fire in the building. He shot at the soldiers that were in the same office as him and then on a crowd of people gathered for a college graduation ceremony. Its unknown but as seen by eyewitnesses, Hasan focused more on the soldiers in uniform.
  1. Can certain religions be trusted in the Military?
  2. Should the government cut down even more on who's allowed to join any armed forces, including the navy, marines, and air force?
  3. Can citizens truly trust their troops?
This article is a real eye opener. It makes you wonder is our government really safe. If we cant trust our troops who protect our lives each and every day then who can we trust.....how are we suppose to feel safe when troops are killing each other. Religion is a very important part of peoples lives but when is the line drawn at what's right and what's wrong to believe in your religion. This article makes you wonder.....can u really trust your country?

Is Alcohol the most harmful drug?

The Lancet, a British medical journal, lists alcohol as the most harmful drug among a list of 20 drugs.

In London, England alcohol was ranked most harmful among a list of 20 drugs. Therefore alcohol is outweighing the affects of heroin and crack. The Independent Scientific Committee on Drugs researched the physical, psychological, and social problems caused by alcohol. It showed that alcohol was by far most harmful. On a scale of 1-100, alcohol received a 72. As of now alcohol is determined to be three times as harmful as cocaine and tobacco. Instead of alcohol being harmful to individuals, its most harmful to others, followed by heroin and cocaine. Aggressively targeting alcohol harms is a valid and necessary public health strategy. This article was called the lancet article. The article was co-authored by David Nutt. David Nutt was Britain's former chief drug advisor who created chaos last year when he published an article saying ecstasy was not as dangerous as riding a horse. An important question asked was, "why are harmful sporting activities allowed, but relatively less harmful drugs are not?"
  1. Is alcohol going to be a bigger charge in court now over drugs that can be smoked, snorted, or taken in a shot?
  2. Would this article affect the governments decision on lowering the drinking age?
  3. Will the United States become stricter on alcohol due to an event that took place in London, England?
I think this article is entitled to an opinion, yes alcohol may be more harmful than other drugs but all of these drugs can harm individuals and others around them. Alcohol was only stated to be harmful to others, while heroin and methamphetamine are highly harmful to individuals. But crack cocaine is very harmful to both. Drugs can easily badly influence people or even take their lives. overdosing, underage drinking, to much consumption are all examples as to how people can be harmed by the in take of ANY drug.
